Scripture Union Daily Guide 1st March 2026 || Outline

Why did Jesus describe the Jews as a wicked generation (Luke 11:29)? Jesus called the Jews a wicked generation not because they asked for a sign, but for their hypocrisy and unbelief. Jesus had performed enough miracles to have convinced them that He was the Messiah, but rather than believe Him, they challenged and accused Him falsely (Luke 11:14-16). They asked for a sign just as an excuse to justify their unbelief (see John 3:19).

Is our generation any different? By the sign of Jonah (Luke 11:30), Jesus was referring to His death and resurrection as the greatest evidence that He is the Messiah (cf. Matthew 12:38-40).

Luke 11:31-32 shows that in comparison to the Queen of Sheba and the Ninevites, the Jews had a greater privilege to know and believe in Jesus, but they squandered it (Luke 11:31-32). What opportunities do we have to know and embrace the Messiah in this generation? How are we utilizing them?
Read Luke 11:33-36 again and take note that the light (God’s word) has no problem; the problem is always with the eye (our hearts).

Insight
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD
1. What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

2. For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

3. Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

4. This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

5. Now by this I’ll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
Now by this I’ll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

6. Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
